While preparing for this series of posts, I asked for plugin recommendations in a post on the fediverse. As expected, there were some real surprises among them. One of those is today’s featured plugin: Find My Blocks.

The plugin’s name, likely inspired by Apple’s “Find My” feature, hints at its purpose: helping you locate specific blocks within the content on your website. Developed by Morgan Hvidt, the plugin makes finding and managing any blocks in your site’s content easy.

Screenshot of the Find My Block interface. At the top right, the content scan can be initiated. On the bottom left, a filter can be used to search for block names, which are then displayed on the right.
After the initial scan, subsequent searches are surprisingly fast.

After activation, Find My Blocks is located under Tools / Find My Blocks. You can start by scanning your website here. Depending on the amount of content and the speed setting you choose, the scan might take a little time.

Once the scan is complete, the index created by the plugin can be used to search for specific block names. The results will list all instances of the block across your site. The search works across multiple post types.

If I had known about this plugin last year, it saved me a lot of time. At that point, I was transitioning the website for the German PressWerk podcast to use the Query Loop block and was manually removing the old block I had previously used from various pages.
